Community Event: Presenting at Rise South City Community Air Monitoring Workshop

I was so excited this last week to have the  opportunity to meet with San Bruno residents at the San Bruno Air Monitoring Workshop. We were able to provide updates to the community on the work we’ve done in the past year, work we are currently doing, and what we are planning to do this upcoming summer. We were especially excited to share about work we’ve done to monitor volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in real time with our HAPSite instrument. We were also excited to share that we’ve begun advancing our co-location of instruments to get a more complete idea of the air quality context in the area. We’ve been setting up TARTA, HAPSite, and wind sensors together and at times even including our newest instrument from QuantAQ known as Modulair UFP! This instrument lets us see Ultrafine Particles (UFP) smaller than 100 nanometers (more than half as small as PM 2.5!!). We’ll be getting our results soon, and are so excited to evaluate all of this data together. As more pieces of the air quality puzzle come together, we continue to express our gratitude to the community for helping our research advance community-engaged air quality monitoring efforts throughout California.
