March 2026 Fieldwork in San Bruno!
UC Davis | Rise South City
When arriving in San Bruno for our latest round of HAPSite Monitoring, we were greeted by the close ring of a plane landing at San Francisco International Airport nearby. We quickly noticed how our community partner lived in a triangle within two major highways, a train railway, and of course the constant hum of planes coming and going from SFO.
We were fortunate enough to launch not one, but two devices during this round of deployments at the same time! Both backyards couldn’t be more perfect for us to set up our HAPSite Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) Detector and air quality sensor, as one offered incredible clearance for both devices to have nice unobstructed intake; while the other was extremely close to SFO.
We were able to check that both machines were up and running and, after a quick trip back to troubleshoot why wind data at one site hadn’t been collected (batteries were loose, whoops!), we were away and running!
We are so excited to share the results from this deployment soon!
