The UC Community Air Project UCSD team is proud to announce that we have added two new
collaborators: Cristian and Eranda. We asked Cristian and Eranda to introduce themselves.


GSR Cristian Fuentes Hernandez

Cristian Fuentes Hernandez is a first-year Latin American Studies Masters Student at
University of California, San Diego. His research focuses on the San Diego - Tijuana
border region through an economic, educational and environmental angle. By joining
the UC-CAP team, he hopes to apply his skills that he has learned in academia and
educate his community about the air quality in San Diego. Cristian’s role in this project
is to engage with community organizations and partners for a fruitful collaboration.


GSR Eranda Somathilake

Eranda Somathilake is a PhD candidate in the Department of Mechanical and
Aerospace Engineering at the University of California, San Diego. His research focuses
on controlling sedimentation in river channels for the ecological preservation of the
riverbed and long term operation of dams. Throughout his undergraduate and graduate
career, he has contributed to a multitude of projects centered on renewable energy and
the mitigation of human-driven environmental impacts. His involvement in the
community air monitoring project has allowed him to contribute towards his passions in
a new way and gain new perspectives.
