Akshita is a Master of Science student in Environmental Policy and Management. She graduated from Mississippi State University in 2021 with a BS in Biology. Akshita developed a passion for local environmental advocacy while working as an Environmental Education and Outreach Director for the MSU chapter of the Climate Reality Project. While at Mississippi State, she co-founded the annual climate march, which works to address environmental and sustainability issues in the greater Starkville area. After graduating, she worked as an ecologist and regulatory specialist at Resource Environmental Solutions in Nashville, where she learned about stream and wetland restoration and mitigation banking.

Currently, she works with Rise South City, an organization based in South San Francisco, as a Graduate Student Researcher. She will be focusing on extending an interactive air quality map to include the cities of Vallejo and San Bruno. Akshita hopes to further her understanding of how to help disadvantaged communities through climate mitigation and policies.
